Everyone wants the same answer, and Rockstar keeps not giving it to us: when does GTA 6 actually come out? We keep this page current with every official statement and every credible report, so you have one place to check instead of ten.

The current window

Rockstar has said GTA 6 is coming in 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S. Take-Two, the parent company, keeps calling it the biggest release on their calendar, and the marketing so far (two trailers and a slow trickle of screenshots) lines up with a launch in the back half of the year.

Here is the honest part. Until Rockstar posts an actual day on their own channels, treat every “confirmed date” you see as a guess. Some are educated. Most are not. This page changes the moment there is a real one.

Why dates like this slip

Big open-world games almost always move, and it usually means the game is getting more time rather than less care. A few reasons GTA 6 is easy to delay:

  • The world is enormous, and polishing something that size takes as long as it takes.
  • GTA 5 still sells millions of copies a year, so there is no financial gun to Rockstar’s head.
  • A rough launch would follow the game for a decade. They would rather eat a delay than ship something that reviews badly on day one.

What is actually confirmed

  • The setting is Vice City and the wider state of Leonida, Rockstar’s version of modern Florida.
  • You play as two leads, Jason and Lucia, the first time the series has built a story around a duo.
  • It launches on PS5 and Xbox Series consoles first. PC has historically come later.

Where I would put my money

A late-2026 launch is still the read that fits everything Rockstar has said and shown. I would not bet the house on a specific month yet. Watch the countdown on our homepage. The second an official date lands, that timer changes and so does this page.

This is a developing story. SixHype is an independent fan site with no inside line to Rockstar.
